What are we really learning in Chorus?

I am so glad you asked!!

Grade 6

Grade 7

Grade 8

Choral I rotates every 9 weeks.  These students learn how to recognize notes and rests, how to count notes and rests, and they learn the definitions of many different music symbols.  This is very helpful to them as we sing songs in class on a daily basis.

These students are also offered the opportunity to write their own lyrics and music and to perform it for the class.

Choral II is currently preparing for our Spring concert to take place on Tuesday, May 6 at 7:00 pm

We are focusing on posture, facial expression, tone, volume, and overall presentation.

Our concert will be presented in 2 parts:  Patriotic selections and a musical revue called “Cinemagic”.

We also have reviewed counting rhythm and dynamics.  We will learn to apply these concepts to our singing.

Choral III is also currently preparing for the Spring program.  We work on the same concepts as the 7th grade but at a slightly more complex level.

Conducting is also an important topic which we will cover in Choral III.  It is a wonderful assessment of the ability to count rhythm and be able to convey proper rhythm and tempo to their peers.

Awards will also be presented during the May 6 performance!!
